Lunch & Learn – Cardiac Arrest Awareness

June 27 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm

Each year in the UK some 60,000 people die, outside hospital, from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Approximately 7000 of these deaths occur in Scotland. The only effective therapy for SCA is early defibrillation. Waiting for an ambulance response is not viable; for every minute defibrillation is delayed survival falls by 7 to 10%.

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are specifically designed to allow non-medically trained people to treat SCA quickly and effectively. AEDs are easy to use, fool-proof and can mean the difference between life and death.

Presented by Steve Jelfs, Scotland Area Manager for Cardiac Science, the session will outline the problem of sudden cardiac arrest and explain how having a defibrillator in a work or public place can save more lives.

The event will start at 12:00pm, however please come along for 11:45am for sandwiches and networking.
